The impacts of the climate and environment crises can be drivers of conflict and a risk to international peace and stability, with disproportionate impacts on individuals in developing, lower-income, fragile and conflict affected states. Simultaneously, climate and environmental action is a critical aspect of sustainable peace. During this UNFCCC side-event co-hosted by the German Federal Foreign Office and adelphi, panelists will explore early action and investments to address the climate – environment – peace nexus. Discussions will revolve around the Climate for Peace Initiative and other relevant initiatives, approaches to increase harmonization and collaboration across sectors and silos, and scale-up action and investments.
