This event, Women with disabilities leading climate action, will be held on 15 June at 8:30 am EST.
It will highlight the important role women with disabilities are playing in ensuring gender-responsive and disability-inclusive responses to climate action, as laid out in various existing mechanisms. While women with disabilities are often excluded from early warning, relief, or emergency response programs because of inaccessible information and infrastructure. And governments too often don’t include them in climate change or disaster management programs. They are essential leaders in efforts to ensure inclusive responses to climate change and disasters. In this side event, we will hear about the steps being taken by different stakeholders such as the UN, donor agencies, OPDs, and NGOs working at the intersection of climate change, disaster risk reduction, disability, and gender.
