Gender and Climate Justice Principles and Approaches: A Working Session

GenderSmart will be gathering key experts across the financial system to interrogate potential principles for defining climate and gender justice in finance, explore emerging case studies and consider what questions investors should be asking of their own portfolios as well as of potential investee companies.

The justice conversation is currently siloed and for mainstream financial actors there are not clear pathways to integrating justice considerations into investment processes. There is a need to define what gender and climate justice means in an investment context.

It is clear that this needs to go beyond job creation, but how far should we be going; is it focusing on anything in least developed countries, or on marginalised communities, or integration justice principles around voice, agency, design, governance and ownership of solutions?
