Today’s generation of youth is larger than it has been at any other time in human history. This large proportion of young women and men is not evenly distributed across the globe. Over 600 million of these young people live in conflict-affected regions. They also make up a majority of the population in the world's 48 least developed countries. Young people’s contributions to peacebuilding and climate action must be recognized and valued if the double threats of conflict and climate change are to be resolved, and the positive synergies of the youth-climate-peace nexus are to be leveraged.
Co-sponsored by EnPAx Young Professionals Interest Group and Gender Interest Group, this Road to Geneva event offers insights on young women’s and men’s engagement in peacebuilding and positive environmental action. It marks the launching of the book Securitizing Youth: Young People's Roles in the Global Youth Peace and Security Agenda, edited by Marisa O. Ensor
Speakers include:
- Amanda King, Wilson Center's Environmental Change and Security Program
