The Open Foris initiative has been instrumental in supporting more than 45 countries in the development of transparent, relevant and sustainable National Forest Monitoring Systems. These open-source tools make the processes of data collection, analysis and reporting more accessible and efficient, catalysing progress for REDD+ monitoring, laying the groundwork for REDD+ monitoring, laying the groundwork for the transition to greater climate ambition under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement and for the monitoring of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) in the coming years.
