This roundtable will focus on the how of the human rights-based approach to conservation by bringing up the case study of Kahuzi Biega National Park and the various elements of the human rights operational plan developed by the Wildlife Conservation Society. It will also look at conflict and legacy issues with a focus on partnerships with conflict resolution and mediation organizations to address them. Following this presentation, we will seek initial reactions from the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, as well as from two Indigenous People's organizations - the Pawanka Fund, as well as the Wayfinders Circle, who will share experiences of Indigenous traditional resolution mechanisms. We will then open up to discussion.
