Weaponising basic resources such as water has always had a far-reaching effect in the history of wars ever fought. World War II era is one such example where during August 1941, Nazi troops made it to the Zaporizhzhya Oblast of Soviet Ukraine. And in order to hinder their advances, Stalin’s secret police came up with the idea to blow up the hydroelectric plant built on the Dnieper river.
