Its programs support the sustainable improvement of the quality of life of disadvantaged populations in Northern Mozambique and include interventions in the areas of health, education, agriculture, entrepreneurship and markets, community savings, civil society and governance. place.

Position Summary:
As part of the National Program Framework 2021 to 2025, AKF (Moz) is recruiting a Climate Resilient Development Specialist for a long-term consulting role. The Specialist will contribute to the strengthening and expansion of AKF (Moz) climate resilience programming in northern Mozambique. The Specialist will be based in Maputo or Pemba, Mozambique and will report to the AKF National Director (Moz) (administrative) and the AKF Global Advisor for Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Resilience (technical). There will be the possibility of extending the role to a full-time role covering regional support to other AKF National Units in Eastern and Southern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Madagascar).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review existing internal and external knowledge, resources and programs on climate resilience in Mozambique and the region;
- Undertake activities to develop a picture of current programs and existing gaps in climate resilience programming in northern Mozambique, including a mapping of partners and programs;
- Co-design the National Strategy for Climate Resilience and support the revision of the National Program Framework accordingly;
- Work closely with AKF (Moz) and Global Teams to lead the process of designing new climate resilience methodologies and programs in northern Mozambique that align with the Country Program Framework;
- Analyze technical information and trends to provide succinct and technically sound advice for integrating climate resilience into existing programs;
- Support the development and use of monitoring, evaluation and learning tools to capture key information and lessons learned from climate resilience programming;
- Work closely with the Partnership Manager to engage institutional and other donor stakeholders to mobilize financial resources and build consortia with other partners to implement programs on climate resilience and sustainable development;
- Conduct capacity building, training and mentoring of other AKF staff (Moz) on climate resilience;
- Build and maintain close working relationships and coordination with relevant departments, particularly Gender Focal Points, at AKF(Moz) and globally to ensure that climate resilience work also integrates gender equality into all outcomes.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience required:
- Degree and Masters in Climate Change, Environment, Natural Resources Management, Oceanography, Agronomy, Forests, Biology, Geology and/or related areas;
- At least ten (10) years of experience working in Climate Resilience, Climate Change, Environment, Gender Responsive Climate Resilience and/or other sectors, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa;
- Demonstrated field experience interacting and mobilizing with communities on climate resilience interventions, preferably in Mozambique or elsewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa;
- Expert knowledge and proven experience in implementing and managing climate programs in a Non-Governmental Organization, Donor Agency, Private Sector or equivalent;
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, program management, fieldwork, communication, strategy, program design and teamwork;
- Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity;
- Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
