International Alert is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our global team as Climate and Peacebuilding Advisor. This comes at an exciting time for the organisation as we are slowly expanding our programming on the climate, natural resource management and peacebuilding nexus. Are you going to play a strategic role in providing technical support and guidance on this topic to our country teams and partner organisation?
Reporting to the Head of Climate Crisis and Natural Resource Management, the Climate and Peacebuilding Advisor will play a key role in assuring the high standards of our programming on the climate, natural resource management and peacebuilding nexus. Often exciting, sometimes challenging, you will work with country and regional teams, Alert’s advocacy & communications team, fundraising colleagues and external partners to design and implement an impactful climate and peacebuilding programme.
International Alert is looking for somebody bringing knowledge, experience and passion on peacebuilding in relation to climate change and environmental issues and who has a vision on how International Alert can develop cutting edge programming on this issue. You have strong programming experience, relationship building and partner management skills. You are a collaborator and keen to work with and support colleagues at the global and country offices while always ensuring we are amplifying the voices of communities and peacebuilders.
You are able to deliver technical tasks like developing guidelines and facilitating trainings independently. You are also keen to join our advocacy efforts on the nexus by organising conference sessions, speaking at events and influencing policy makers. As well as a minimum of five years’ experience in programme management, you will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a strong understanding of peacebuilding and are able to contextualise this to climate change and environmental issues.
