I am Pauline Njeru, I hold a Master of Science degree in Plant Pathology. Well, having graduated with this degree I thought life would be sweet, I saw Pauline as a Senior researcher in known research institution in my Country Kenya. Things don’t work as planned neither did they work for me. In Kenya the level of un employment is rising day by day. Graduates year after year, but guess what this is not the end of life. Having faced the jobless challenges, I convened a meeting with myself, come on Polly, what business idea do you have? What hands on skill do you have? I can try a cosmetic business. I borrowed 15000 and bought braids in wholesale in Nairobi and I opened a beauty shop in Thogoto, Kiambu County in Kenya. Day one I made some sales of around 300 sh, these were 5 braids, day two no sales, I didn’t give up, with my small smart phone worth 5000, I got to the you tube channels, “how to plait hair”. This changed how I perceived things. I bought a head dummy worth 1500 and got into the you tube daily and trained how to do all sorts of hair. To cut the long story short, after 3 months I was in business I rebranded my beauty shop to a saloon. I have been in the hair business till now. I didn’t forget my career in science currently I want to train my community on sustainable Agriculture. My message to the youths and womenS what do you do with the I Phones and the fiber internet around your surroundings.
